On 25 June, the Institute convened a closed-door meeting in Brussels, bringing together independent experts and EU policymakers to engage in a collective assessment of trends determining Belarus’ future.

The event also underscored the EU's crucial role in supporting Belarus’s democratic aspirations by reducing economic and energy dependence on Russia, backing resilient democratic opposition, and countering regime propaganda. The event highlighted the broader geopolitical impact of the war in Ukraine on Belarus and the need for strategic EU action rooted in strong values and proactive engagement.

Among the invited independent experts were Tatsiana Chulitskaya (Associate Research Fellow at the Manchester Metropolitan University), Anna Davis (Oxford Belarus Observatory), Katia Glod (Policy Fellow at the European Leadership Network) and Vytis Jurkonis (Associate Professor at Vilnius University). The roundtable was moderated by Ondrej Ditrych, Senior Analyst for Russia and the Eastern Neighourhood.
